One man dead after two-vehicle collision east of Stratford

A 44-year-old man is dead after a two-vehicle collision on Highway 8, just east of Stratford.

Ontario Provincial Police say it was reported that an eastbound sedan lost control and was struck by a westbound pickup truck with the driver of the sedan brought to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the pickup truck, a 68-year-old man, was brought to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

OPP Constable Joshua Cunningham says investigators are looking at into what lead up to the collision.

“They’ll be looking at a bunch of different things, this time of year obviously in a lot of collisions road or weather conditions may play a factor and we have not ruled out how they affected this crash.”

Cunningham adds it’s not believed alcohol or drugs were a factor and the man’s name is being withheld until next of kin are notified.

The highway is closed in the area while investigators are on scene but it’s expected to reopen Tuesday afternoon.
