Light rapid transit could be a step closer to being up and running in the Waterloo Region.
CTV Kitchener reports that the remaining two vehicles for the ION Rapid Transit System arrived in the area over the weekend.
With the arrival, the region says they are targetting the spring of 2019 for LRT service to begin.
Bombardier, the company producing the vehicles, says they are confident that 14 cars will be retrofitted by the end of this year and they are sending more employees to the area to make sure that happens.
However, the Commissioner of Transportation and Environmental Services for the Region of Waterloo, Thomas Schmidt, says they don’t have any vehicles at a preliminary acceptance level and he adds that Bombardier’s timeline will be hard to meet.
