Stratford Police Chief returns from Moncton

John Bates says the RCMP funeral in Moncton was a humbling and moving affair.

The Stratford Police Chief was in New Brunswick earlier this week to represent local law enforcement at the ceremony.

Bates says it was inspiring to watch the once-terrified and now grief-stricken residents of Moncton come out in droves for the procession.

Bates says the ceremony was very moving and the City of Moncton has pulled together.

Bates says tragedies like this are a reminder of the risks associated with policing but they will remain resolute.

Three Mounties were gunned down on June 4th and two more were injured.

Twenty-four-year-old Justin Bourque now faces first degree murder and attempted murder charges.
