Eight months house arrest for man who pleaded guilty to robbing mosque outside Listowel

It’s house arrest for eight months for a 35-year-old man pleading guilty of breaking into a mosque outside Listowel.

The Stratford Beacon Herald reports that Christopher O’Neill was found guilty of breaking into the facility and stealing copper wiring and his sentence also makes it so he isn’t allowed to go within one kilometer of the Cham Shan Temple.

The temple is located on Highway 23 in North Perth and that police had discovered that a gate lock to the property had been cut in late April.

O’Neill said he didn’t break the lock but police reported that they found copper piping and fittings, worth $1,700, in his truck.

He pleaded guilty in mid-November, the day his trial was set to begin.
