Stratford Police investigating counterfeit money circulating in the city

Police are sending out an alert about counterfeit bills in circulation in Stratford.

They say two American counterfeit $100 bills were discovered Monday by staff at the RBC bank in downtown Stratford with the bills being discovered in two separate deposits and it’s believed that the customers in possession of the bills were not aware that they were fraudulent.

Police say they have started an investigation into where the bills came from and they are encouraging all business owners and managers to review how to detect counterfeit bills with their employees.

If you come across what you believe to be a counterfeit bill you’re asked to call the police.
