Police reminding snowmobile driver’s about what they need when they ride

You’re being reminded of what you need to have on you when you head out on your snowmobile.

Ontario Provincial Police are conducting patrols on trails around the area and they are handing out tickets to those who fail to have the necessary documents on them they are riding.

Motorized Snow Vehicle operators are being reminded that they require a valid 2019 trail permit to use Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs trails.

Upper Ottawa Valley OPP Constable Shawn Peever says there are other documents you must have with you when out on the trails.

“Proof of insurance registration and carry a valid driver’s license or a motorized snow vehicle license and to produce those documents upon demand by police unless they are on their own property.”

Police say snowmobile patrols, which include radar speed enforcement, will continue throughout the winter months.
