Perth East creating youth action council

Giving youth the opportunity to be engaged and motivated so that they can contribute new ideas and services to their community.

That’s what the Township of Perth East says is behind the creation of a Perth East Youth Action Council.

Perth East Council approved the creation of the new council at their meeting on December 17th after they were successful in receiving the $1-thousand “Youth in Action” Grant from the United Way Perth-Huron.

Recommendations from the Perth East Recreation Master Plan and the Perth 4 Youth Strategic Plan encouraged the development of a Youth Action Council to engage local youth.

United Way’s Youth in Action Grant is a one-time grant opportunity of up to $1-thousand for programs that are youth-led and offer creative ideas to address youth community issues in Perth and Huron Counties.

The Township’s Recreation and Community Services Department is visiting schools this month to hold information sessions with Perth East students in grades 7 and 8 with more details on the council to be announced later this month.
