Stratford Public Works is ready to tackle this latest blast of winter.
Crews have been out dealing with any drifting and icy sections of roads and sidewalks around the city before the freezing rain and snow comes so that they can keep them from turning into an even bigger issue while anti-icing trucks will be out putting down a mixture of salt water so that the ice that does hit won’t stick to the roads as easily.
The icing is done on major routes around the city including Ontario Street, Huron Street and Lorne Avenue which see the most traffic every day.
Director of Infrastructure and Development for the City of Stratford, Ed Dujlovic, says drivers can help with the clean up by not parking on the streets.
“Our trucks are unable to get through there otherwise we may hit parked vehicles so we will not go into the areas if the driver doesn’t feel he can maneuver around the parked vehicles safely.”
A bylaw in the city prohibits on on-street parking between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. during the winter.
