Police say talking on a phone while driving a transport truck has lead to a Kitchener man being charged.
Shortly after 1 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, Perth County OPP say an officer saw a transport truck traveling on St.George Street in West Perth while the driver was talking on a cell phone.
The truck was stopped and the 48-year-old driver was charged with driving a motor vehicle on a highway while using a hand-held wireless communication device.
Under new penalties introduced this year, distracted drivers are subject to a fine of at least $615 and as much as $1000, 3 demerit points and a three-day suspension for first-time offenders.
