BREAKING: Influenza outbreak declared at Stratford General Hospital

An influenza outbreak has been declared at the Stratford General Hospital.

Officials say the outbreak was declared on the Medicine Unit after three patients tested positive for influenza and Vice President Partnerships and Chief Nursing Executive Anne Campbell says in a release that “we are working closely with the Perth District Health Unit” and the hospital has closed the unit to admissions, restricted visitors to two per patient and put “some” limitations on staffing for the unit.

All patients on the unit are currently being offered Tamiflu and visitors to the unit are being asked to follow proper hand hygiene procedures and people are being asked to stay away if they feel sick.

HPHA will continue to update the public, as our information changes or more becomes available.
