Weather roller coaster continues in the Stratford area

UPDATE: 1:58 P.M.

Environment Canada has ended a Freezing Rain Warning for the area and replaced it with a Freezing Drizzle Advisory.

It’s a roller coaster ride when it comes to the weather we are seeing lately.

A Freezing Rain Warning remains in effect for the Stratford area with 5 to 10 inches expected to fall before tapering off late Wednesday afternoon and then switching over to freezing drizzle in the evening before then switching over to rain early Thursday morning with a high of three.

The weather is a far cry from the freezing temperatures that overtook our area last week.

Warning Preparedness Meteorologist with Environment Canada, Peter Kimbell, says he doesn’t find the weather that we are seeing to be too much of a shock.

“It’s just winter in Canada, what we’re seeing are warm fronts and cold fronts and low-pressure systems, there’s nothing new about that and it’s a bit dramatic right now.”

The freezing rain made the roads slippery and forced plenty of closures and cancellations.
