Fergie Jenkins visits students at Northwestern

Fergie Jenkins wowed the kids at Northwestern Secondary School yesterday.

The former Major League baseball player, Cooperstown Hall of Fame inductee and National League Cy Young Award winner visited the school’s Personal Training “Fitness” class.

Jenkins told the students stories about facing off against baseball legends like Hank Aaron, Roger Maris, and Reggie Jackson.

He also shared the challenges of being a player of colour back in the 1960s especially through the southern states.

Jenkins was born in Chatham.

He is the first and only Canadian inducted to the Cooperstown
Baseball Hall of Fame.
