Winter expected to stick around a while longer

Winter isn’t done with us yet.

Meteorologists say more wind storms and snowfall, including some flakes that we will see fall today (Wednesday), will continue over the next three weeks lastu=ing into mid-March.

That’s when they say we will see a sudden transition to spring and we will see a longer period of warm weather in April and May, compared to what we saw last year.

Environment Canada Warning Preparedness Meteorologist Gerald Cheng says, while that’s good news, we still have a bit of winter to contend with.

“We are in a very active pattern and looking ahead into the long range forecast we are also predicting below seasonal temperatures.”

It’s expected that we will still see a few cold days in April and May.
