Pettapiece; Ford government urges feedback on waste reduction

The Ontario government is asking for your opinion on garbage.

Perth-Wellington MPP Randy Pettapiece says the Ford government  is working to keep the province clean and beautiful,  “As committed in our made-in-Ontario environmental plan, we want to increase and improve household recycling.”

The province has posted a discussion paper for 45-days on how to reduce food and organic waste, and plastic litter from neighbourhoods and businesses.

According to the province 70-percent of garbage still ends up in landfills.  The diversion rate has stalled over the past 15 years.

Meanwhile, the NDP will introduce a ban on single-use, throwaway plastics.  The plan will be revealed this week at Queen’s Park.
