Movies Under the Stars returning in June

Movies Under the Stars is returning for its third season.  This year the organization will screen five movies between June and September.  Run by Stratford’s Queen of the Square cinema group the movies are family-friendly and there is no charge.

Craig Thomson says this year the season will kick off with a special screening of Casablanca at the Bruce Hotel, “In the back garden of the hotel is where the movie will be screened.  People may want to dress up or act like the 1940s, but that is our first evening is Casablanca.”

Thomson adds, “The thing about outdoor movies is most people have seen these movies before, but there is something different about watching a film outdoors under the stars.  It’s just a great experience.”

In July there will be an Italian themed event in Market Square in partnership with the Slo Food Market and Pazzos. The movie will be “Cinema Paradiso”.

In August the 1925 silent version of “Phantom of the Opera” will be screened with live musical accompaniment with Stratford Summer Music and a choir.
