Attempted fraudster foiled

On Wednesday an elderly Stratford woman called police.

She had received a call earlier in the day that her daughter was in jail and needed $7,000 for bail.

The woman sent $1,000 through Western Union but then realized she had been a victim of fraud.

She called her bank and the Stratford Police Service.

With the help of an officer she was able to stop the money transfer.

The SPS remind you to talk to friends and family about being aware of these types of fraud.
