Cat featured in viral abuse video recovering well according to police

A cat is recovering after police say it was seen in a viral video being abused by a Stratford teen.

Just after 4 p.m. last Friday, Stratford Police say they began receiving numerous complaints from people throughout Southern Ontario about a video posted on Instagram that showed a cat being abused.

They say the male in the video was recognized by police as being from Stratford and he was found and arrested around 4:40 p.m. with the cat taken into care by officers.

The Stratford Perth Humane Society then took the cat to be seen by a veterinarian where it was found to have no injuries.

The male was released and has a court date scheduled for April 29th.

He was placed on conditions not to be in possession of any animals.

His identity can’t be provided by police currently because his charges have yet to be sworn to in court.
