City of Stratford looking at options in battle against geese

Trained dogs, drones and lasers could soon be used by the City of Stratford in an effort to keep geese away from the parkland near the Avon River.
The Stratford Beacon Herald reports that the city’s community services committee voted Monday night to endorse a plan that would see pressure put on the geese to leave the area by creating the illusion of a predator living in the area.
The proposal would see numerous visits by dogs during the day, starting in March and going until mid-June, along with a drone operation which would cost around $32 thousand annually.
The laser would be used at dawn or dusk if needed.
The idea comes after Stratford’s parks management board says it has tried all other options since putting its goose management program in place in 2016.
Stratford City Council will have the final say on if the proposal goes ahead at an upcoming meeting.
