A discussion on the proposed demolition control by-law in Stratford is on tap for the city’s Planning and Heritage Sub-Committee.
At their meeting Thursday afternoon, the sub-committee is expected to hear from a representative from the Stratford and Area Builder’s Association on the proposed demolition control by-law.
Officials say the reason behind the by-law is to give municipal councils some control over the premature demolition of housing stock and to ensure that replacement structures are approved and built within a reasonable time frame.
City staff met with Heritage Stratford on January 8th and the Stratford and Area Builder’s Association on February 7th to present a draft by-law and collect feedback.
The committee will also vote on whether or not to send the by-law to City Council for a final vote with the public being notified before a final vote takes place.
The meeting starts at 4:30 p.m. in council chambers at Stratford City Hall.
