Stratford man arrested for Cruelty to Animals

The Stratford Police Service was called yesterday afternoon when another person said they saw the 42-year old man beating the dog and tying it up near Romeo Street South and Park Street.

Witnesses say the man was repeatedly punching the dog and tying it up with a rope that was tangled around the dog’s body.

The man was arrested and charged and was ordered not to be in the possession of any animal.

The OSPCA now has the dog and it is not believed it was hurt, however, its full condition is not known at this time.

If you have questions about the dog you can call the Humane Society of Stratford at 519-273-6600.

The suspect has a court date at the end of April.
