Some students aren’t happy about Ontario Premier Doug Ford’s plan for the education system in the province.
In an effort to have their voices heard, a province-wide student walkout is set for Thursday at 1:15 p.m. with over 600 schools already signed up for the Students Say No movement.
Founder Natalie Moore, a grade 12 student from Listowel, says youth will be protesting increasing class sizes, teacher cuts, and mandatory online courses.
“You could have classes with 40 people in them and that’s going to seriously lower the impact of student success in our province, you won’t be getting adequate feedback from your teacher, you won’t have the one on one time with the teacher that’s really necessary for understanding course material.”
Organizers say the movement started on March 19th to raise awareness about education changes.
