Stratford woman and St.Marys man face fraud and weapons related charges after incident near Lake Superior

A Stratford woman and a St.Marys man face several fraud-related charges after they were arrested near Lake Superior.

On Tuesday afternoon, Ontario Provincial Police in Schreiber say they received a call from a gas station about someone using a counterfeit American $100 bill to pay for gas.

According to police, the two suspects and their vehicle were identified through a surveillance video and they were located a short time later.

Police say they were given a fake Ontario driver’s license by one of the suspects and officers also determined that the vehicle had been stolen.

They say forged identification documents were found on the pair, including cheques stolen from the Stratford area, and they were also found to be in possession of weapons including three firearms, two crossbows, several replica firearms and a quantity of meth.

The two each face a long list of charges including fraud and possession of property obtained by crime.

They were remanded into police custody.
