Stratford Festival remembering “key member” of coaching staff

A key member of the Stratford Festival’s coaching staff is being remembered.
Officials with the festival say it’s with great sadness that they learned of the death of Ian Watson of Cancer on Tuesday.
Watson was an expert in Shakespearean text and his career at the Festival spanned many decades after being invited to join as an actor in 1984.
In 2001 he began teaching at the Festival’s Birmingham Conservatory for Classical Theatre and continued his work with the Conservatory until his death.
Watson was awarded the William Needles Award for Mentorship at the Festival’s 2017 Guthrie Awards.
The festival is dedicating the 2019 production of The Merry Wives of Windsor to Watson’s memory
