South Huron looking into having Stratford Patrol patrol area

Could Stratford Police one day add another location to the places that they patrol?

That’s the question being asked as South Huron Council is looking to see if our city’s police department would be interested in patrolling that region.

The possibility of their local Ontario Provincial Police detachment closing, along with the cost of opp service going up, is behind the idea.

Municipal staff in South Huron have been asked to inquire about the idea and report back to council.

South Huron pays around $2 million for OPP service annually.

Back in November of last year, Stratford Police began patrolling both St.Marys and Perth East as well as their regular duties in our city.
