If your daily travels take you along Highway 7 in Perth South you’ll have to make alternate plans.
As of Monday, the Ministry of Transportation will be constructing a roundabout on Highway 7 at Line 26/Perth Line 26.
Officials say the first part of the construction will see closures on the Line 26/Perth Line 26 portion of the intersection which will be in place until June and then the next stage will start after that and see the entire closure of the intersection including Highway 7 and Line 26/Perth Line 26 for another month or so.
Director of Public Works for Perth South, Ken Bettles, says the road closure will be a learning curve at first.
“Initially it will be a bit more of an inconvenience for people until they find alternative ways to get around but it’s definitely going to impact traffic and traffic flow in the area.”
The project includes the construction of a roundabout, improved drainage, landscaping and lighting and the work was awarded to Cox Construction Limited for $2.4 million.
