Candidates starting to come forward for upcoming federal election

While the federal election isn’t until October, a few candidates are starting to come forward in Perth-Wellington.

Although they can’t become official candidates until the writ is dropped, both the Green Party and the People’s Party of Canada have found who they want to represent them.

For the Green Party, Dr. Collan Simmons was acclaimed as their candidate in our riding.

Dr. Simmons is the chief of anesthesiology at the Stratford General Hospital and has lived in the city for almost a decade.

The new People’s Party of Canada, formed by former Conservative Party member Maxime Bernier, has acclaimed veterinarian Ken Metzger as it’s candidate in the riding.

Perth-Wellington Conservative MP John Nater has also confirmed that he will be seeking reelection in the riding.
