Police: Hanover man charged after being caught with imitation handgun in Listowel

A 26-year-old Hanover man faces charges after police say he was caught with an imitation handgun.

Around 6 o’clock Tuesday night, North Perth OPP say they responded to a report of a suspicious person in the area of Havelock Street in Listowel.

Police say witnesses reported that the man was walking down the street and looking into vehicles while possibly holding a handgun at his side.

Officers say they responded quickly and found the man and it was determined that he was in possession of a pellet gun that resembled a handgun.

The man faces charges including possession of imitation weapon for dangerous purpose and possessing meth.

He’s scheduled to appear in court in Stratford on May 27th.
