Perth-Wellington MPP Randy Pettapiece’s office in Stratford will be part of a different kind of protest.
Following similar protests in other locations in Ontario, Pettapiece’s office will be the site for a read in demonstration Friday afternoon.
The protest is being put on under the online movement known as #SaveOurLibraries and is being used to speak out against the Doug Ford government’s plan in the Ontario budget to reduce funding for libraries by a significant margin.
Those who attend the protest, being held from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., are being encouraged to read either out loud or to themselves and to bring their letters and petitions.
The Ford government says the funding is being cut as part of their efforts to deal with an $11.7 billion provincial deficit.
