Police lay charge in Walmart hit and run

Stratford Police have charged a Stratford woman with Accident Resulting in Death.

Just after 11:00 yesterday morning first responders went to the scene in the Walmart parking lot on Ontario Street.  A woman had been hit and was taken to hospital with serious life-threatening injuries.  The driver left the scene going north on C.H. Meier Boulevard.

Witnesses and security cameras determined the vehicle involved was a white Volkswagen Routan mini-van.

The Routan was later found in the parking lot of Festival Place Mall and is undergoing forensic investigation.

63-year old Hedwig Sophia Harris later passed away from her injuries.

At 4:30 yesterday afternoon the driver turned herself in to police and was arrested.

She is only being identified as a 30-year old Stratford woman.

She has a court date on June 17th to answer to the Criminal Code Offence of Accident Resulting in Death.
