UPDATE: Male driver killed in two-vehicle collision north of Stratford identified

UPDATE: 3:05 P.M.

Police have identified the male driver who died following a two-vehicle collision north of Stratford.

Around 7 o’clock Thursday morning, first responders were called out to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Perth Line 42 at Road 122.

They say the collision involved a minivan travelling eastbound on Perth Line 42 and an SUV travelling south on Road 122.

Police say the male driver of the minivan, 44-year-old Jason Satchell from West Perth, was brought to the hospital where he later died while the 53-year-old woman from Perth East who was driving the SUV was brought to the hospital with minor injuries.

An investigation into what caused the collision continues and police say charges will be reviewed once the investigation is finished.

The intersection remains closed as hydro crews work to repair a damaged pole.

A two-vehicle collision north of Stratford has left a male driver dead.

Perth County OPP says the collision happened around 7 o’clock Thursday morning at the intersection of Perth Road 122 and Line 42 and involved a minivan and an SUV colliding.

Constable Barry Cookson tells MyStratfordNow.com that the minivan was travelling eastbound on Perth Line 42 when it collided with the SUV that was travelling southbound on Road 122.

The male driver of the van was taken to hospital where he later died and the driver of the SUV was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Both drivers were alone in their vehicles and police have not identified the man who was killed.

Cookson adds that the intersection of Road 122 at Line 42 is controlled by stop signs and all possibilities are being looked at as far as what caused the collision.

Perth Road 122 remains closed at Line 39 and Line 44 while Line 42 is closed between Highway 119 and Road 125.

Perth County OPP has closed Line 42 between Road 122 and Road 125 because of a fatal collision.

It happened at about 7:00 Thursday morning at the intersection of Perth Road 122 and Line 42, north of Stratford.

The OPP has called in Technical Traffic Collision Investigators to the scene and the road is expected to be closed for several hours.
