Block Parent Program ends in Stratford

Stratford’s Block Parent Program is no more.
When the Block Parent National Office closed its doors in 2018 because of funding cuts, the Rotary Club of Stratford say they considered “many options” for keeping the local program going but they say they have now decided to put their energy into other initiatives rather than accept additional cost and liability.
Relatively low participation rates and changes in the way society is working are also cited by the club as reasons behind ending the local program which had been in place since the 1970’s.
In 2012, the Rotary Club took over the program’s administration from the Kinettes who were struggling to oversee it.
At the time it was closed, the club says program had about 40 active Block Parent homes in addition to 12 businesses.
