Eleven animal cruelty charges filed against Turkey processor

A Kitchener-based company has been whacked with 11 charges of animal abuse.

The Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and the OPP worked together to investigate the Hybrid Turkeys company after video emerged in March.

It contained footage of employees at the plant in Bright clubbing and kicking the birds.

The company says it was an isolated incident and has already suspended four of its employees.

Hybrid Turkeys is one of Canada’s biggest turkey producers.

The 11 charges were filed against the company and five of its workers.
