Stratford Police: Narcan saves lives

Stratford Police are stressing the importance of having Narcan readily available.

Narcan is an opioid reversing drug and police say it was administered to 10 of 17 people in the area last year who were having a suspected overdose from fentanyl.

So far this year, police say the drug has already been given to ten people going through suspected fentanyl overdoses and there have been no fatalities, while six people died last year from the suspected overdoses.

Stratford Police Constable Darren Fischer says it’s easy to obtain Narcan if you haven’t already.

“It’s administered typically nasally, you can pick up a kit at almost any pharmacy free of charge and the pharmacist will walk you through how to use that kit.”

Fischer adds that overdoses from Fentanyl aren’t just happening in our area, but across the country.
