Police reminding you to keep road safety front of mind for the long weekend

Just in time for the Canada Day long weekend, Ontario Provincial Police are launching a road safety blitz.

Police say they will have zero tolerance when it comes to aggressive driving over the long weekend and they will be targetting the “big four” driving behaviours that cause injury and death, those are speeding, distracted driving, driving while impaired and driving aggressively.

The same message is being sent by Stratford Police, who will be keeping a close watch out to ensure everyone in the city has a safe long weekend.

Stratford Police Constable Darren Fischer says safety is all about planning ahead.

“Plan ahead, make sure that you leave yourself enough time to get where you’re going, have your directions printed out or known so that you don’t have to use your cell phone while you’re driving.”

Fischer adds that police will also be patrolling the Wildwood Reservoir this weekend.
