Perth-Wellington MPP applauding $12 million commitment to new swine research facility in Elora

The MPP for Perth-Wellington is applauding Ontario’s $12 million commitment to build a new swine research facility in Elora.

Randy Pettapiece says the announcement is “excellent news” for the over 500 pork producers in Perth and Wellington Counties and that “with this state-of-art facility, there is a real opportunity to advance our pork sector and drive more innovation in farm, ing locally.”

The new research facility is a partnership between the province, through the Agricultural Research Institute of Ontario, and 1,200 pork industry producers through the University of Guelph.

Officials say the new infrastructure investment in Elora will use state-of-the-art technology to meet advanced research and training needs in the swine sector.
