Fourth Annual Vic Hayter Memorial Trot on Sunday

A well-known figure in Stratford and area will once again be honoured this weekend.

The fourth annual Vic Hayter Memorial Trot is being held this Sunday at the Clinton Raceway in memory of Hayter who owned and operated many hotels in the area including The Arden Park Hotel and Festival Inn in Stratford.

Hayter was also an avid horse lover and supporter of the raceway in Clinton and he owned standardbred for 38 years, he passed away in 2016 at the age of 77 from cancer.

Jessica Carnochan with the Clinton Raceway says the day will also support two causes that were close to Hayter.

“It features a memorial trot race in his honour and it’s a fundraiser for two organizations that were very near and dear to his heart so the Stratford Perth Humane Society as well as OSAS, the Ontario Standard Bread Adoption Society.”

Hayter’s family has raised the purse to $15 thousand for this year’s trot.
