New name for two Stratford school’s joining together in September

Two schools coming together for the new school year will be under one name.

While upgrades are made to the Stratford Central building, students from Stratford Central and Stratford Northwestern are coming together for the 2019/2020 school year.

Stratford Northwestern will be home to all students in grades 7 to 12 during the renovation period and in order to facilitate a sense of belonging and connectedness, officials say the school will be called “Stratford Secondary and Elementary Schools.”

A decision on the future of the two schools has not been made as the Avon Maitland District School Board says they continue to wait for Ministry approval on moving forward with a decision.

Construction on the school began on June 21st with a targetted completion date of September 2020.
