Stratford man charged in connection to theft of van from painting company

A 45-year-old man faces a handful of charges after Stratford Police say he stole a van from a painting company.

Police say they concluded their investigation into the theft of the Red Leaf Painting van on Wednesday after it was taken on Sunday.

They say the van was recovered in a parking lot at the south end of Erie Street in Stratford on Tuesday and officers were able to review video surveillance from the area where the van was found and they identified the man involved as a resident of the city who is known to them.

Shortly after 2 o’clock yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon, police say they found the man at a home on McKenzie Street and he was arrested.

He was brought to police headquarters and later released after being charged with several offences including Theft under $5 thousand and Mischief under $5 thousand.

He has a court appearance in Stratford scheduled for August 19th.
