Tennis gains local popularity after Wimbledon

Call it ‘the Eugenie Effect’.

Canadian tennis players made historical gains at Wimbledon and it’s already boosting the sport locally.

Stratford Tennis Club General Manager Bill White says the phenomenal performances by Eugenie Bouchard, Milos Raonic and Vasek Paspisil have put the sport on the map in Canada.

White says the problem so far is that the top athletes in Canada are absorbed into the hockey universe.
