‘Race to 500’ aiming to help out the Stratford Salvation Army

The Stratford community is being looked on to help those in need.

Officials at Stratford’s Salvation Army food bank say they have recorded a 25 per cent increase in demand for help over the past two months which they say is making it difficult to keep their shelves stocked with the food their clients need.

To that end, 2Day FM and Juice FM are holding the “Race to 500” event all this month with the goal to collect 500 items for Stratford’s Salvation Army.

Major David Braye at the Salvation Army says there are certain items that they are in dire need of.

“It’s those items, the juice, the cereal, the canned meat that we’re having difficulty with keeping around.”

We will be collecting food at the Zehrs on Ontario Street in Stratford from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Thursday as well as you can drop donations off here at the station or at Zehrs all of August.
