Eleven transit projects in the City of Stratford could get funding boost

Eleven transit projects in the City of Stratford could receive a funding boost.

Perth-Wellington MPP Randy Pettapiece says the 11 projects, including replacement buses and accessible bus stops with shelters, are being nominated under the Public Transit Stream of the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program.

The Ontario government is investing $1.6 million locally to the investments and the projects are now with the federal government for final funding decisions as they are reviewed for eligibility under the ICIP program.

The ICIP is a $30 billion, 10-year infrastructure program cost-shared between federal, provincial, and municipal governments.

Ontario’s share per project will be about $10.2 billion spread across four streams; Rural and Northern, Public Transit, Green, and Community and Culture, and Recreation.
