Wellington County is one step closer to bringing expanded high-speed internet service.
That’s according to Perth-Wellington MPP Randy Pettapiece who announced on Friday that the Southwestern Integrated Fibre Technology project has officially opened their Request for Proposals process for up to $12.1 million in broadband infrastructure in the county.
When complete, officials say the project will help communities and businesses in Wellington County better compete in global markets, attract new jobs and improve the quality of life for residents.
The RFP was sent out by SWIFT, a not-for-profit corporation initiated by local municipalities to address connectivity in Southwestern Ontario.
