London Police say a 23-year-old woman faces five impaired driving charges after a vehicle hit a home in the city, sparking an explosion that has displaced dozens of people.

Police say they believe the vehicle hit a gas line just before 11 p.m. Wednesday night and the house, which was empty at the time, was completely destroyed.

Officials in London say about seven homes were “severely impacted” by the fire and about 100 residences have been evacuated.

Seven people, including four firefighters and two police officers, were taken to hospital.

Daniella Alexandra Leis of Kitchener is facing four charges of impaired driving causing bodily harm and one count of impaired driving.
