Part of T.J. Dolan Drive in Stratford could be closed permanently

The T.J. Dolan Drive that we used to know in Stratford may be a thing of the past.

At their regular meeting Monday night, Stratford City Council voted to give public notice that they are considering a by-law to close T.J. Dolan from St.Vincent Street South to St.David Street.

That section of T.J. Dolan, near the railway overpass, was barricaded off during the winter of 2017 to 2018 as the surface of the road was deemed to not be safe for traffic.

Officials say that rebuilding the section would cost around $500-thousand while temporary repairs would cost around $100-thousand.

Staff with the city have recommended to close the section for good and convert it into a multi-use trail at a cost of around $100-thousand.

The city is required to give public notice of the change so that residents get a chance to provide input on the proposed closure.
