Cause and damage estimate not yet determined after house fire in Stratford

A cause and just how much damage was caused has yet to be determined after a two-alarm fire at a Stratford home.

Stratford Deputy Fire Chief Niel Anderson tells MyStratfordNow.com that crews were called to a home on Cobourg Street around 2:45 Friday afternoon by a resident who reported that they believed a fire had started in the kitchen.

Once on scene, Anderson says firefighters discovered substantial flames and heavy smoke coming from the rear of the semi-detached home.

Paramedics were called to the scene to treat the person in the home and a second alarm was called in.

Crews quickly knocked down the large fire with an attached residence suffering some smoke damage.

Firefighters cleared the scene around 7 o’clock.
