All-candidates debate being held over food issues Monday night

Eat, Think, Vote.

That’s the idea behind a campaign being put on by Food Secure Canada that organizers say gathers community members across the country to talk with candidates in the federal election ahead of voters going to the polls, with the goal to make sure that food is an election issue.

Organizers want the incoming government to develop a policy that encourages a food system where no one goes hungry, where food is healthy and that is sustainable.

In Stratford, the Local Community Food Centre is taking part in the campaign and they are hosting an all-candidates debate Monday night.

It’s the first debate this election campaign to bring together the candidates in Perth-Wellington and organizers say that candidates from all four major parties have accepted an invitation to take part.

They say everyone in the community is invited to join them for dinner at 5:15 p.m. followed by the debate at 6:30 p.m.

The food centre is located at 612 Erie Street.
