Longer, milder fall in store for the Stratford area

What kind of fall are we going to see in the Stratford area?

With Autumn officially beginning on Monday, that’s the question many of us are asking and, according to Environment Canada, it looks like it might be a bit milder than normal with southern air and northern air moving in and battling it out.

The good news is, the weather agency says that fall is expected to stick around for a few months unlike last year when it stayed for the month of September before giving way to a long winter.

Dave Phillips, senior climatologist with Environment Canada, says people should enjoy the months to come much more than they did last year.

“Instead of having fall in October and November, we had winter and it went on until May and I think people, even people who love winter, were saying enough is enough.”

Phillips adds that because the summer wasn’t as dry as it was last year, we should see some beautiful fall colours throughout the area.
