The City of Stratford could soon declare a climate emergency.
It comes after the city received a petition last Friday requesting that the declaration be made.
Council voted at their regular meeting Monday night to receive the petition and refer it to staff for more information.
Over 800 local governments around the world have declared climate emergencies, including Vancouver, Montreal, New York and Los Angeles.
