Stratford removes crossing guard from Romeo Street and Brunswick Street area

There’s one less crossing guard in Stratford.

Officials say that after seeing the results of crossing warrants and with the option to cross elsewhere in close proximity, they have removed the crossing guard at Romeo Street and Brunswick Street.

The decision was made final in a vote by the council at their regular meeting on September 16th.

Students are being directed to cross at the Ontario Street or Douro Street traffic lights if they need to cross Romeo Street.

Officials say that if the number of children crossing at the intersection increases, the city will undertake a crossing warrant study to see if a crossing guard is necessary.
