Events planned for around Perth County to mark Fire Prevention Week

Fire Prevention Week will see several open houses and events taking place in Perth County.

The week, which runs from Sunday until Friday, starts a day early with Sparky’s Birthday and an open house at the Milverton Fire Station from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday.

Organizers say the event will include water games, a meet and greet with Sparky and free hot dogs and drinks.

On Sunday, there will be an open house at the Stratford Fire Station on Erie Street from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.

There will be other open houses at the Mitchell Fire Station on Tuesday, the Sebringville Fire Station on Wednesday and the Shakespeare Fire Station on Thursday.

Firefighters will also be doing door-to-door smoke and carbon monoxide checks and school visits during the week.
